So, you’re interested in having a website built by Miles V Design. What’s the process in getting a quotation and how will my website be constructed?
Contact Us! – Pick up the phone, send us an email or use the contact form on our website. We’ll get back to you in a flash and discuss your requirements over the phone. If you like, we can make an appointment for you to visit us at our offices, and you can come in and talk about your project in more detail and show you relevant sites and designs that we’ve done in the past.
Your Quotation – We’ll carefully review what you’ve told us and put together a comprehensive quotation. This will usually be a fixed price if you’ve told us everything that you need. It will cover the price for building your site and any extras that you require such as domain name, hosting, maintenance, logo design, graphic design and stationery.
Acceptance – You like what you’ve seen in the quotation, and you decide to go with us. You don’t have to pay in one big block, we split the payments into several chunks, such as the deposit, design completion, programming completion and site completion.
Your very own designer – Firstly, you’ll be allocated a designer who will give you a call to discuss your new website. We’ll answer any questions you may have and discuss the role of the new site. We will send you a design questionnaire which the designer will discuss with you to make sure that they have a good idea of what you’re expecting regarding the look and feel of your new website. If you prefer, you can come into our offices, have a cup of coffee or two, see examples of sites
Branding – We normally begin with your branding: if necessary we can create new branding (logos, colour-schemes and so on); we can evolve and modernise any existing branding, or we can use whatever you have in place now.
Site design – Once we’ve established a style and appearance we’ll get to work on a site design – usually starting with the Home page. We will take into account everything you have supplied and, together with your brand identity create a bespoke website design tailored to your business.
Tweaks & alterations – Hopefully you will be delighted with what we’ve created for you – but of course there may be things that you wish to change. Our designers will tweak the design until you’re happy. On the rare occasion that the design does not meet your expectations we’ll simply start again – have a fresh conversation about the website and produce a new design. (Unfortunately, if you’ve completely changed your mind from the original specification we’ll probably have to agree a charge with you to start again.)
Site build – Whilst we’re designing the website you’ll be working on the text and images that will appear on your website pages. If you find this difficult we can put you in touch with a copywriter who can help you. We can also source stock imagery if required.
Site on test server – Once you’re happy we’ll build the website on one of our testing servers. Whether a Content Managed website or an eCommerce website, we set up the entire framework for you, populate it with your initial content.
Interim test – Once the site is built, we put it through an interim test before we show it to you. This is so we are aware of any bugs that need ironing out. We also make sure that the website looks consistent across different web browsers and devices, so that you can use the site as your clients would.
Training – Before the site goes live we invite you into the office for a training session. After this we’ll then give you access so that you can start editing the site yourself.
Final test – Once you’re happy with the site, we ask you to stop working on it. We then go through a full 170+ point testing sheet to make sure the website is at its best and working as it should.
Launch – Once we’ve finished testing the site we’ll put it live. This normally takes just a few minutes, but sometimes large eCommerce sites can take a little longer. After a short delay the new website will be visible across the world.
